If you’ve ever walked behind the school, you may have seen two large structures. One of those structures is a greenhouse, but the other is the star of this article– a biodome! The project lead of IA’s biodome, Kindness Mbaimbai (11th, Healthcare), described a biodome as a self-sufficient human-made environment.
The biodome was originally a Flex Friday session which turned into a full-fledged project after Project Week. Kindness says that learning about food scarcity that week made her want to give back to the community in some way that would positively contribute to this issue, so she wants to use the biodome to grow food for charity.
In the future, Kindness says that they’re going to present the project to the Fuel The Rocket committee to fundraise to add an automatic irrigation system and more durable materials like plexiglass to the biodome. She wants the IA community to volunteer or help donate to the cause so the project can progress and grow crops for the local community soon!
